A Variety of Science Classes to Supplement Your Homeschool Program

We currently offer 5 fun science classes, all personally taught by Dr. Dan Korow. All classes include demonstrations by Dr. Dan and labs with lots of hands-on!

General Science

This beginning science class will give you the needed skills and background to excel for the rest of your science education. It provides the proper foundation for not only a science education, but a well-rounded education period.

Beyond science, the class will help your student learn how to learn and remember. They will have fun doing lots of hands on. They will learn some basic science history; not enough to get boring, but just enough so that the student will know who the scientific giants were and how we can learn from them. They will begin to learn how the human anatomy is wonderfully and fearfully made.

This is usually for a 7th or 8th grader.  We also have 9th graders in these classes, depending on their interest and background, espciciallly if they are new to science, homeschooling and Dr. Dan’s teaching. The class meets once per week for 2 hours.

Physical Science

Physical science teaches students about the world around them and helps prepare students for physics courses later in their academic career, or simply how to be a better resident of planet earth. If your students likes to build and operate things, this is the course for them. Best of all, there’s no dissection!

Although we do use a text-book, we are not limited by one. Dr. Dan draws on many different sources such as additional texts and articles, diagrams, illustrations, stories, media reports, current events, basically anything that can add excitement to the material. It’s a tremendous learning experience that can’t be duplicated in just working through a text book alone.

This is usually for an 8th or 9th grader, but can be taken in 10th since it can be counted as a high school credit.  The class meets once per week for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Biology

This is usually for the 9th, 10th or 11 grader depending on interests and background. This is a rigorous – but REALLY fun – way to learn alot of cool things about biology. Many of our prior students have taken this and CLEP-ed out of their college biology! Even if you don’t care for science -but have to have the credit-then consider Dr. Dan’s biology! He will help you remember all that “stuff”. You’ll excel in a group setting in this course!  The class meets once per week for 3 hours.

Chemistry

Our chemistry course is a blast (don’t worry, we’re not talking about real explosions).

What we mean is that, like all of Dr. Dan’s classes, this is a fun, hands-on class. See do and hear how things respond and interact. See how common household items can be used to make science fun. There’s a ton of doing in this class, much more than a typical student would get in a home classroom setting.

Dr. Dan proves that your student really can can balance equations, it’s not that hard once you see Dr. Dan’s Chemistry Roadmap©.

Some math is involved, but for those who are less inclined toward the insides of living things, there is no dissection!

Dr. Dan’s Chemistry class can lay the groundwork for students who want to use the College Level Examination Program to “CLEP” out of college courses and get a jump on their higher level educational career.

Advanced Biology

This upper level class is suitable for students who love biology and wish to progress beyond the basics. As with all of our classes the emphasis is on fun and hands-on learning.

Although you will need to use a text-book, Dr. Dan is not limited by one. It’s a tremendous learning experience that can’t be duplicated in just working through a text book alone!
